This download to the left called Tiger Tales is our fifth annual review of artistic and literary work from Lebanon Middle School students, and over the past few years it has grown like a kudzu vine on Miracle Grow.

It’s the firm belief of the LMS staff that nothing inspires student writing and artwork better than publishing the best selections annually. Just telling a student that their work is great isn’t enough in some cases. We’re often so proud that we want to show student pieces to the world!

If a collection like this isn’t shared with a greater audience, the wonders that teachers peek at throughout the year would be kept private like a spectacular hidden valley that only the locals know about and greedily keep to themselves. That would be a filthy shame considering the collective creative force that our student body generates. It’s essential to us that our community be reminded of the awesome talents kids in our building regularly display, so that’s why we love to share our students’ best work.

I’d like to thank Jennifer Miller, Jaime Ramsey, Lorrie Faust, Laura McKinley, Angie Hensell, Kristi Hinkle, Rebecca Outcalt, Sean Watson, Tammy Stuart, and Debra Hannon for taking the time to catch the tales and snip the specimens for this collection. I’d also like to thank parents and students who made purchases at the middle school book fairs. Profits from those purchases funded this publication.

Finally, I’d especially like to thank my friend Don Russell, the chief botanist / zoologist / computer-wiz who printed and put this enormous beast of a review together while sustaining himself only on a mere jar of peanut butter and water. Hey, you gotta be tough when it’s a jungle out there.

So fear not, and boldly venture into the stunning valley of the Tiger Tales. Natural treasures of a wide variety await and long to tickle your senses. Let everyone look, read, listen and enjoy. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed… and that’s no fib.
